  4. For dried paint or any remaining residue: apply isopropyl alcohol (70%) to a white cloth and blot. IPA dissolves cured acrylic polymer.
  5. Once the binder is dissolved, vacuum to remove any loose phosphor particles from the pile.
  6. Rinse with cold water and blot dry.

The Glow Is in the Particles, Not the Binder

Strontium aluminate and zinc sulphide phosphor particles are fine, dense white or off-white powders when not charged. Once the acrylic binder is removed, any remaining particles sit loose in the pile and can be vacuumed out. The characteristic green glow in darkness is a good indicator of whether phosphor particles remain — charge the area briefly with a torch and check in a darkened room.

UV-Reactive Paint (Black Light) Uses Different Pigments

UV-reactive (fluorescent) paint — which glows under black light but not in the dark — uses different pigments (fluorescent dyes in acrylic binder) rather than phosphors. Treatment is identical: cold water for wet paint, IPA for dried paint.
